Some individuals come to therapy with a very specific problem to understand or an experience to process; others seek out counseling with an abstract desire to explore and examine the self. Whether you are looking for answers to a specific question, or you do not yet know what to ask, we will start where you are, using the therapeutic relationship - or the unique connection between therapist and client - as our anchor. It is within this experience of trust, safety, and bearing witness that healing and recovery can take place.
Adult psychotherapy services are being offered in person and virtually.
Children who struggle with emotional regulation and/or relationships with others may benefit from individual therapeutic intervention. Stepping away from old paradigms that use reward and punishment systems to modulate behaviors and understand incentives, a new paradigm suggests that behaviors are communicating needs that are not being met. Individual treatment will assist children - and the adults in their life - understand the wisdom of the body and what it can tell us about what they need to feel regulated and safe. Shying away from typical diagnoses and labels, therapy provided to children and teens looks beneath the surface of what we can see and hear and attempts to understand why troubling behaviors are occurring.
Services for children and teens are being offered in person and virtually. It is highly recommended that parents (of children or teens being treated for individual therapy) partake in periodic parenting sessions to reinforce healthy habits and communication.
Families who come to therapy learn ways to develop and maintain healthy relationships. For families that are experiencing a loss, an extreme stressor or a life cycle event involving adjustment, family therapy will help solidify functional ways of engaging with each other and coping with the present challenge. For families that have struggled with impaired communication and flawed boundaries, family therapy will address improvements that can be made to benefit each individual as well as the family unit as a whole.
Family therapy services are being offered in person and virtually.
